Test of initial preparation (OFA test)

Contenuto

Students who matriculate to the Law Department's Degree Courses (Single-cycle Magistral and Legal Sciences of Business and Public Administration) must compulsorily take an Initial Preparation Assessment Test.

This test has the function of verifying whether the preparation acquired during schooling is adequate for the chosen Degree Course, while also providing a self-assessment tool to enable students to improve their basic preparation and enter the university path.

Failure to pass, while not precluding the possibility of attending classes, will result in the assignment of additional educational obligations (OFA), the full fulfillment of which by the student will be a necessary condition for being able to take the profit exams: those who do not take the test or fail it will not be able to register for the exams.

Method of participation

The student, after completing the pre-registration procedure, will be able to see the automatic registration that has taken place and independently print out the application with the indication of his/her turn.

In order to find out the turn assigned for the conduct of the test, it is necessary to access one's reserved area of ESSE3 (www.esse3.unimore.it ), by “logging in” with the access credentials (username and password) assigned upon completion of registration to the site itself, then clicking on “Assessments and Tests” present in the left menu.

Students are reminded that the initial preparation test is mandatory for all freshmen.

Students with a previous university career are exempt from taking the OFA test; these include those matriculating for transfer and/or course change, as well as students who have dropped a course of study or lapsed students.

Modalities of conduct

For those enrolled in the 2024/2025 academic year, the test will be held in person at the Law Department's Computer Laboratory (Via San Geminiano, No. 3) .

Once present in the classroom, instructions on how to access the test on the  http://moodle.unimore.it/ platform will be provided.

N.B. - You must show up with USERNAME and PASSWORD assigned at the end of your registration in ESSE3 and a valid ID. Without credentials or ID, you will not be able to take the test.

It is recommended to take a mock test at the following link https://moodle.unimore.it/enrol/index.php?id=9813
so that you will not encounter problems on the actual test.

The test consists of 20 multiple choice questions with 3 possible answers, of which only one is correct, covering the following topics:

1.         Elements of History;

2.         Outlines of the Constitution of the Italian Republic;

3.         Italian language and elements of logic.

The test will be considered passed if a score greater than or equal to 12/20 is achieved. Each correct answer will be awarded one point, each incorrect answer will be awarded zero points, and each answer not given will be awarded zero points.

Recovery mode Additional Educational Obligations (OFA)

Students who do not pass the initial preparation test on the first attempt may try again directly in the next round.

Should the assessment in the second round also be one of ineligibility, those concerned will have to follow a course consisting of reading one or two books from among those included in the specially prepared list and writing a short report on the contents of these books. In particular, only one book will have to be read by those who have scored at least 6 points in the test. He or she will have to read two, and prepare two reports, who has reported a score of 5 or less. The titles may be chosen by the student from within the list prepared for this purpose, provided that if he/she chooses two, the two titles belong to two different fields. The report, written in Word format (file with a .doc or .docx extension) and with a maximum of 7,000 characters including spaces, should be sent to the prof. delegate for OFAs by e-mail.
