The Department’s Quality Manager is Prof. Maria Barberio.

The Quality Manager coordinates the Departmental Quality Committee, which is composed of Prof. Luca Vespignani, Prof. Marco Gestri, Prof. Federico Pedrini, and Mr. Giovanni Moles.

The quality policy of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia is defined by the University’s governing bodies. At the department level, this policy is implemented by the respective departmental governing bodies, in accordance with the University’s guidelines.

The Departmental Quality Committee has operational responsibility for Quality Assurance (QA) at the department level.

Features

The RQD serves as the link between the University Quality Assurance Office (PQA) and peripheral units (departments, degree programs, and CPDS). It provides support and guidance in the areas of Quality Assurance (QA) for Education, Research, and the Third Mission/Social Impact.

The RQD is appointed by the Departmental Council upon the recommendation of the Director, after consultation with the PQA. This position is incompatible with the role of Chair (or equivalent) of a degree program, member of the CPDS, or Director/Chair of a Department or School. The term of office is three years and may be renewed consecutively only once.

The RQD is supported by a Departmental Quality Commission, which thus serves as the departmental quality oversight body.

The RQD, assisted by the Quality Commission, has the following specific responsibilities:

  • conduct training and provide information on quality assurance for the Department's staff;
  • monitor the proper implementation of the activities included in the Department’s Three-Year Plans and in the review processes for research and the department’s Third Mission;
  • monitor the educational activities of the degree programs, with particular attention to orientation for incoming students, tutoring, and efforts to resolve issues raised by students;
  • provide advice and support to Department Chairs in drafting the Department’s Three-Year Plan (which currently incorporates the SUA-RD) and in preparing the Annual Monitoring and Review Report;
  • provide guidance and support to degree programs in drafting the SUA-CdS, the SMA, the RAMAQ-CdS, and the RRC;
  • provide advice and support to the CPDSs in preparing their annual report;
  • provide advice and support for academic organization (e.g., assigning primary instructors, distributing teaching loads).
