The University of Modena and Reggio Emilia recognizes the status of Visiting Professor to foreign lecturers and researchers who perform a period of stay at the University's facilities of not less than 15 days and not more than 1 year.

Each year, the Department of Law hosts Visiting Professors both as Short Visits (awarding a grant to Lecturers and Researchers pertaining to foreign universities to carry out teaching activities in the Doctoral School of Law “The European Legal Culture of Business and Institutions) and Long Visits (awarding a grant to Lecturers and Researchers pertaining to foreign universities to carry out teaching activities in the Master of Laws Degree Program).
