The CPDS is a body of the Department and is composed of an equal number of faculty members and students, who should, as far as possible, represent all degree programs affiliated with the Department.

To ensure its impartiality, the following may not serve on the CPDS: degree program chairs, members of the degree programs’ Quality Assurance Management Groups, department chairs/deans, Departmental Quality Officers (RQD), and members of the departmental Quality Committees.

The CPDS is coordinated by a faculty member selected from among the committee’s own members.

The CPDS’s primary task is to prepare an annual, detailed report for each degree program, which takes into account the entire educational offering, with particular reference to the results of the student opinion survey, and identifies any specific issues related to individual degree programs.

The CPDS’s annual report, based on independent analysis (and not solely on the degree programs’ quality assurance documents), is submitted to the Ministry of Universities and must be forwarded to the Evaluation Unit (NdV), the University Quality Assurance Office (PQA), as well as to the relevant departments/faculties and degree programs, which review it and take steps to develop proposals for improvement (in collaboration with the CPDS). The key aspects of this process must be highlighted in both the NdV reports and the RRCs.

The CPDS also has the following responsibilities:

  • to monitor the academic offerings and the quality of instruction, as well as the student services provided by professors and researchers;
  • to identify indicators for evaluating outcomes;
  • to formulate proposals for improving the quality of degree programs;
  • to issue opinions on the establishment and discontinuation of degree programs.

In order to ensure the impartiality of the CP-DS, it has been determined that the Chairs of the CdS may not serve on the Commission.

The current composition of the CP-DS is as follows:

Prof. Carlo Vellani (Pres.), Prof.ssa Maria Cecilia Fregni, Prof.ssa Prof.ssa Eleonora Anna Alexandra Dei Cas, Sig.ra Iolanda Battaglia, Sig. Tommaso Armani, Dott.ssa Michela Giannasi.
